Purpose

Personal Books Availability Checker is a private, non-commercial utility used only by its owner. It sends periodic emails about books that may be available from a public bookseller catalogue.

Google user data

The application requests the gmail.send OAuth scope. This permits it to send notification emails from the mailbox authorized by the owner. The application does not request permission to read, search, modify, or delete Gmail messages.

OAuth credentials are used only to authenticate requests to the Gmail API for this purpose. Google user data is not used for advertising, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.

Storage and security

During local testing, OAuth credentials are stored in an owner-only local file. In the hosted version, the authorization credential is stored in Google Secret Manager and is accessible only to the application's runtime identity. Credentials are not included in source code or public website files and are not intentionally written to application logs.

Other application data

The application processes an owner-provided Goodreads CSV export, public bookseller catalogue information, match results, and limited operational logs. This information is used only to perform the availability check and maintain the owner's private report history.

Sharing and sale

Google user data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. Data is processed only by the application and the Google services required to host it and send the requested notification emails.

Retention and revocation

Authorization is retained while the owner uses the application. The owner can revoke access at any time from the Google Account third-party connections page. When authorization is revoked or the application is retired, the stored OAuth credential is deleted.

Google API policy

The application's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Website analytics

This informational website does not intentionally use cookies, analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies.
